🎨 AMS Component Identification (Automatic Material System)
If you have chosen the AMS (Automatic Material System) with your printer, let’s go over its components and how to properly set it up and connect it to your printer.
🛠️ What is the AMS and How Does It Work?
📌 The AMS allows automatic filament changes during printing, enabling multi-color or multi-material prints.
✔️ It is placed next to the printer and connects via:
🔹 4 tubes (on the top), which guide the filament to the print head.
🔹 1 data & power cable, which plugs into the port next to the SD card slot.
✔️ It has 4 filament slots where you can load different colors or materials.
✔️ It uses 4 motors to push the filament through the tubes toward the print head.
✔️ RFID sensors (for compatible filaments) automatically detect filament type and color and display them correctly on the printer’s screen.
🔗 AMS Assembly & Connection
📌 Setting up the AMS is simple and involves the following steps:
1️⃣ Secure the AMS base by screwing in 4 screws.
2️⃣ Connect the 4 tubes from the AMS to the print head.
3️⃣ Plug in the data & power cable into the designated port next to the SD card slot.
4️⃣ Load filaments into the 4 available slots.
📌 The AMS automatically detects the filament through built-in sensors and feeds it toward the print head.
🎯 Proper Color Assignment
🟢 One of the most important steps is to correctly assign colors!
📌 If the colors in the printer’s menu don’t match the actual filament colors in the AMS, your print will have incorrect or mixed colors!
📌 When positioning the AMS next to the printer:
✔️ Place it on the right side of the printer.
✔️ Ensure the tubes have enough free space to move along the full length of the machine.
⚠️ Things to Watch Out For!
🚨 Do not push filament into the print head with more than 2.5kg of force!
🚨 If the filament is ejecting from the print head or a tube disconnects, the print head may need maintenance.
📌 In this case, simply reinforce the small teeth inside the connector.
🚀 Now that you understand how the AMS works, you're ready to create stunning multi-color prints! 🎨🖨️
