Slicer Manual : Bambu Studio : First Print and Workflow

🖨️ First 3D Print

Step-by-Step Workflow

Now that we’ve installed the software, connected our account, and see our printer in the slicer, we are ready for our first print! 🎉

Before we start, it's important to understand the workflow we’ll be using. Below, we’ll go through each step in the process so you can recognize what needs to be done at each stage.

📂 Choosing a File

🔹 Before anything else, you need to select the file you want to print and download it to your computer.

👉 If you are printing a model from an online library (like MakerWorld), simply select "Open in Bambu Studio", and the file will automatically load into the slicer.

📥 Importing a File

If you want to use your own file, simply select "Import File", choose your model, and it will appear on the print bed inside the slicer.

🏭 Selecting the Printer

Before doing anything else, we need to:
✅ Select the correct printer from the left panel.
✅ This will update the print bed in the slicer to match your specific machine.

🔹 This step ensures that your part is being prepared for the right printer and build plate.

🎨 Organizing the Print Bed

Now that we have selected our printer and imported the model, we need to:
✅ Position the parts correctly on the print bed.
✅ Ensure that the largest flat surface is touching the bed for stability.
✅ Check the orientation to avoid printing errors.

⚠️ If a part is not properly positioned, it might fail to print!

🔬 Choosing the Material

🔹 Next, we need to select the correct filament type.

✅ The slicer will automatically adjust the temperature settings based on the selected material.
✅ If using multiple colors, we will configure them in the multicolor printing section later.

🏗️ Print Analysis

Now we need to configure:
Layer height – The finer the layer, the more detailed the print.
Infill percentage – Defines the internal density of the object.
Print method – Determines how the object is sliced and printed.

⚠️ Most beginners make mistakes here! Don't worry too much about advanced settings at first—let the slicer automatically handle them.

🛠️ Supports (Overhang Assistance)

🔹 If your object has angles greater than 50°, it may need support structures to print correctly.

✅ The automatic support setting can be enabled in the left panel.
✅ For manual support adjustments, we’ll explore this in a later lesson.

⚙️ Preparing for Printing (Slicing)

Once all steps are completed, go to the top right corner and click "Slice Plate".

✅ The software will process the model and redirect you to the Print Preview tab.

🔍 Print Preview

Here, you can:
View all sliced layers to check how the object will print.
✅ Use the scroll bar to see the exact print process.

📡 Sending to the Printer

If your account is connected and your printer is online, click "Send to Printer" to transfer the print job.

🖨️ Starting the Print

Once the file is sent:
✅ Go to the printer's touchscreen.
✅ Select the print job.
✅ Hit "Start" and wait for your object to finish! 🎉

🎯 Final Thoughts

The steps above are the core workflow you will follow in all future lessons.

🚀 You don’t need to fully understand everything yet! The goal of this lesson is to help you recognize the process so you know where each step fits.

Let’s start printing! 🖨️🔥
